Capobianco Law Offices Wins $15.8 Million Jury Verdict for Genera Corporation in Complex Trial Against Two Former Executives

Capobianco Law Offices secured a $15.8 million jury verdict for Genera Corporation after a five-week trial in Orange County Superior Court. The jury found Genera’s former President and COO, Jackson Kwok, and former Vice President, Annie Wong, liable for breach of fiduciary duty, breach of contract, conversion, and violation of California Penal Code § 496.

The case began in 2022 when Kwok sued Genera for $180,000 in alleged unpaid profit sharing. In response, Genera countersued after uncovering evidence of widespread financial misconduct. At trial, CLO presented evidence that Kwok and Wong misused their positions to pay themselves unauthorized compensation and bonuses, charge personal luxury expenses to the company, and divert corporate funds for private home remodeling and personal vacations.

Proving these claims required years of investigation, extensive discovery, and forensic accounting. CLO’s team issued third-party subpoenas, reviewed thousands of documents, and presented expert testimony from specialists in corporate governance, executive compensation, and forensic accounting. Numerous fact witnesses also testified.

After just over a day of deliberations, the jury awarded $15.8 million in damages, holding Kwok and Wong jointly and severally liable. CLO will also pursue recovery of attorneys’ fees and costs.

“This was a complex case requiring years of investigation and preparation,” Nino Capobianco said. “We are proud to have delivered a significant victory for our client.”

The trial team included Anthony Capobianco, Dayme Sanchez, Katie Gonzalez, and Jackie Graves, supported by CLO’s litigation staff.
